Adopt A "Nearly Graduated" Dog
Not every dog that enters a service dog program graduates at the end of their training. In fact graduation rates are as low as 20% in some organizations. Because we train each dog individually and have the time to work through some minor issues that other groups can't, we have a really great success rate. Sadly not every dog graduates but this makes them no less of an amazing dog.
What happens to the dogs that do not graduate? If there puppy raiser family chooses not to adopt them, they are adopted through K9 Northwest to loving families that have gone through a rigorous application process. Most dogs don't graduate because of minor issues. Some stress around very loud environments or possibly would rather sleep at your feet all day rather then get out and work. These dogs are still highly trained and make exceptional pets. Our "nearly graduated" dogs have gone through all of their basic and advanced obedience and most have started on service dog specialty training. All the training work has been done before you even adopt your dog.
These dogs are adopted out fully vaccinated, altered, and current on medical care. The adoption fees vary with each dog. The adoptions fees go straight back into the program to help fund more service dogs. If you are interested in inviting one of these amazing dogs into your family contact us and we will be glad to give you more information about the program.
